You may be aware that Stret Lock has long been notorious for being a tight fit. Many boats have difficulty passing through, including our own Python.
There has been a stoppage this week (14th to 18th March) to investigate. Is it banana shaped? Have the ground anchors rotted away? Are there just a couple of rogue bulges?
The pictures below were taken on a miserable murky day. The gentlemen doing the works told us that their measurements had not shown any discrepancies from the published minimum dimensions. Tomorrow (Thursday 17th), infra-red photographs will be taken. These will be used to create a computer simulation of the lock. A virtual boat will then be introduced so that any problem areas will be highlighted.
