The Government announced in the Budget today that the Staveley Town Fund is to receive £25.2 million. We will find out in due course how much will go towards the restoration of the canal across the Doe Lea Valley.

The Staveley area, including Hollingwood, is one of 101 towns across England that were invited to make a bid for up to £25m in a Town Deal, announced by Government in November 2019. The aim is to deliver regeneration projects with and for the communities of the Staveley area.
Since then there has been a huge amount of work to decide upon suitable projects including much public consultation.
Recently the chosen packages have been refined and costed and the final submission has been made to the Government.
We have applied for funds to complete the restoration of the canal within Staveley, i.e. from Hartington Harbour to the borough boundary with North East Derbyshire at Renishaw. The total cost will be £10,798,000 and we are asking for £5,680,000 of this from the fund.
Separately, Derbyshire County Council is asking for funds to start the development of Staveley Town Basin, renamed Staveley Waterside.
We do not expect to get any news until the Spring.
