Whilst the crew of the Hugh Henshall were undertaking some interior work on the boat this week (w/c 1st April 2013), they were treated to a very welcome site courtesy of our friends in the Canal and River Trust, namely the actions of a dredging team.
The excavator arm in the foreground is attached to the business end stood in the car park of the old Kiveton Wire and Steel building where the Festival was held in 2010. They are apparently working their way down to Thorpe Locks and up to the Harthill Feeder and it’s a welcome sight for anyone that regularly uses this stretch of the canal as there are a few places where the bottom is a bit too close to the top for comfort!

There are a number of public trips organised on this area of the canal over the coming months being run by the Seth Ellis and Hugh Henshall in partnership and the Hugh Henshall alone.
