Our Restoration Ambassador, Dave Berry, came down to visit the Work Party at Hartington. Dave is a long time supporter of the Trust. He wanted to see where we are digging under the old mineral line railway bridge. (If you don’t know about this amazing venture, click here.)
Mike Firth, the boss of Heron Publications that produces several Chesterfield magazines, took photos with some of the guys with a dumper truck …..
….. and with Denis the Digger.
There were four Daves there, so they had a special photo wich you can see on the Dronfield Eye Facebook page.
Some of the photos will be in the next edition of Twist, which will be out next week.

A few minutes after Dave and Mike had gone, Graham Rawson arrived. He is a member who lives locally. He had been in touch over the weekend about making a large donation. He came today with a very substantial cheque which will allow us to purchase another digger. His sole request was that we dedicate his donation to the loving memory of his late mother – Violet May Rawson. We will get signs to put on the new digger to this effect. (Photo by Dave France)
Needless to say, we are hugely grateful to Graham. We feel that this is an example of how much the restoration of the canal means to so many local people.
