Last night some of our Work Party stalwarts went to the Poppy & Pint in Nottingham to the A.G.M. of the Nottinghamshire & Derbyshire branch of the Inland Waterways Association.
They were presented with the Champion Webster Cup. This is awarded to a person who has made an outstanding contribution to waterways in the local area. Past winners have included John Baylis, who received our Lifetime Achievement Award in 2012, and Mick and Carole Golds who did the brickwork on Dixon’s Lock.
The official citation is to “Dave Kiddy and the Chesterfield Canal Trust Work Party”.
The presentation was made by the Chair of the N&D IWA, Mike Snaith. He read out the piece that appeared about Dave Kiddy in Towpath Talk in October 2015, see below.
