On 9th June there was a massive downpour which completely flooded the lock workings at Staveley. Scroll down for photos of the original scene.
On Sunday 15th June, the Derbyshire Fire and Rescue Service came to our aid.
They set up some of their powerful pumps to help our small ones.
The water level began to drop.
You can see that it was coming out at quite a rate.
It meant that the bed under the relief road bridge was temporarily a canal.

This is on 17th June, back to normal.

There was a massive downpour yesterday in Chesterfield. This led to a flash flood with the lock site being inundated.
This was the scene today.
This is what is should be like.
Are our Work Party downhearted? Yes.
Will they let it defeat them? No.
Plans are already in place to get it all pumped out.
