The work is now finished.
The new pipe, stonework and brickwork look great.
The water flows in nicely …..
….. and, more importantly, flows out smoothly.
The road repairs are very neat. Thank you Derbyshire County Council.

The wall (see below) was finished a couple of weeks ago.
Then another group of Derbyshire County Council guys came to sort out the culvert under Newbridge Lane. First of all they dug it away …..
….. and exposed the mouth of the culvert.

Then they started rebuilding the wall round the pipe. Watch this space for further updates.

You have probably already seen that there is a Stoppage at Wheeldon Mill Lock (no. 2) in Brimington.
There is still some water passing through …..
….. but the water level is much lower tham normal.
There are two stages to the work. Currently the back wall has been taken down and is being repaired. Previously, it was leaning over and about to fall.
Recycled bricks are being used.
Some drainage holes have been drilled in the wall because water was coming through from the land behind. Presumably it was this pressure, plus tree roots, that caused the initial problem.
This stage should be finished by the end of next week.
The second stage will be to replace the collapsed culvert which is behind the board.
Please note that this work is being done by Derbyshire County Council, which owns this section of the canal.
