Today saw the leg of the non-tidal part of the River Trent. Pete and I were met by Michael Edwards who offered us and Richard Chappell a lift to Newark at 8am this morning. After arriving and getting ready to go, we found a mechanical fault with one of the boats. After a brief visit from a mechanic, we were ready to go but unfortunately Richard had to leave after a certain time and because of our delay he wasn’t able to travel with us. We’ll get him next time.

Here is a rare sight, Python and Phoenix double-breasted through Holme Lock, the biggest Lock for today.

Unfortunately there’s not much to talk about; to be honest I should go to bed as we have been travelling for over 13 hours. It’ll be the first night on board Python!
