Are you looking for a new, exciting way to raise funds for your organisation or your favourite charity? If so, the Friends of Dawn Rose have a great idea. Your team can pull a 70 foot long, hand-built, wooden narrowboat along the Chesterfield Canal.
You can book one of our Boat Pulls on a weekend of your choice in April and May. Alternative dates will also be considered subject to crew availability.
You raise sponsorship money, by pulling the boat from Shireoaks to the Lock Keeper pub in Worksop or the reverse. You pay £75 for use of the boat and its crew, or £100 if you want to pull it both ways.
Pulling a ten ton boat might sound impossible. In fact it is surprisingly easy. The Friends will supply harnesses with which two people can pull Dawn Rose very comfortably. Your team can take it in turns.
The Friends will steer and manage the boat.
As you will be going at walking pace, you can bring friends and family to share in a great day out along this beautiful waterway. Scores of groups have taken part in the Boat Pull over many years, with hundreds of pullers. Many thousands of pounds have been raised.
