The Chesterfield Canal was completed in 1777. The first boat from West Stockwith arrived in Chesterfield on 4th June.

In 2018, we set a target to complete the last nine miles of restoration by 2027 which is the 250th Anniversary of that great event. However, subsequent events have made that target incredibly unlikely. However, all donations will be very gratefully accepted because we are still aiming to get the canal fully restored as soon as possible.

All the money donated will go directly towards the costs of restoration of the canal.

There are six ways to contribute

One-off Donation
This can be done online by clicking here or by cash or cheque sent to 2027 Appeal, Chesterfield Canal Trust, Hollingwood Hub, 22 Works Road, Hollingwood, Chesterfield, S43 2PF.
If you are a taxpayer, please fill in and return our Gift Aid Declaration.

Monthly payment
This can be done by Standing Order, please fill in and return the form on our leaflet.
Again, if you are a taxpayer, please sign the Gift Aid Declaration on the leaflet.

Certificated Donation
This is for larger donations, which will be acknowledged by a formal certificate. We will also have a special section in our quarterly magazine, Cuckoo, listing all Certificated Donors.
There are four levels – Silver (£100), Gold (£500), Platinum (£1,000) and Diamond (£5,000).
These donations might be made by individuals, but also by companies or groups – such as social clubs, boat crews, pubs, walking groups etc. Click here to donate online.

Legacy

Major item sponsorship
It is possible to sponsor major pieces of infrastructure such as lock gates, footbridges or lengths of towpath. We believe that this may be of interest to companies as well as individuals.
